What is the difference between a paralegal and a legal document assistant?

A legal document assistant has the same educational requirements as a paralegal,
but a legal document assistant is also required to be bonded
and registered in the county of their principal place of business.

A legal document assistant is authorized by law to prepare legal documents
for the public at their specific direction.

A legal document assistant is not an attorney, is not employed by an attorney,
cannot give legal advice or represent an individual in court.

As a legal document assistant I prepare documents for the public that they have
selected at their specific direction only.

A paralegal is generally employed by an attorney or

contracts to work  for an attorney.

A paralegal is strictly prohibited by law from providing services to the public
unless the work is performed under the supervision of an attorney.
