| Ayers Legal Document Assistance prepares high quality legal documents at affordable rates. This site is set up according to the services that you may need assistance with. If you are an attorney in need of assistance visit the "for Attorneys" page. If you are a member of the public needing assistance from a legal document assistant visit the "for the Public" page. What is the difference between a paralegal and a legal document assistant? A legal document assistant has the same educational requirements as a paralegal, but a legal document assistant is also required to be bonded and registered in the county of their principal place of business. A legal document assistant is authorized by law to prepare legal documents for the public at their specific direction. A legal document assistant is not an attorney, is not employed by an attorney, cannot give legal advice or represent an individual in court. As a legal document assistant I prepare documents for the public that they have selected at their specific direction only. A paralegal is generally employed by an attorney or contracts to work for an attorney. A paralegal is strictly prohibited by law from providing services to the public unless the work is performed under the supervision of an attorney. If you would like a brochure in regards to the differences between a legal document assistant and a paralegal please visit www.calda.org and you may download the brochure "Legal Document Assistant or Paralegal - What is the Difference?". |
